Tusheti: Georgia's Wildest Mountain Region

- Tusheti is a remote mountain region in north-east Georgia – defence towers, sheep flocks, barely any phone signal.
- The only road crosses the Abano Pass (approx. 2,850 m) and is open only from about June to early/mid October.
- 4×4 only: approx. 70 km of dirt road from Kvemo Alvani/Pshaveli, 3–5 h drive.
- A 4×4 with driver from Telavi or Alvani costs approx. 200 GEL per car according to Wikivoyage (older guide value).
- The main village Omalo has the Keselo fortress; Dartlo is one of Georgia's most beautiful mountain villages.
Tusheti is Georgia without compromise: no tarmac, barely any phone signal, but stone towers, green mountain meadows and hospitality like a hundred years ago. If you make it here, you have earned the view.
